When Bob and Daniel first asked me how I felt about photographing their wedding, I was hesitant.  I loved them so much that I didn't think I'd be able to enjoy their day and help them celebrate, if I was concentrating on the job at hand.  But after trying to help them find a photographer, I realized that I really wanted it to be me.  I'm so glad that I had the chance to be with them for so much of their special day.  I will always treasure that time.  We had so much fun and I loved seeing how important the day was to them!

I could not have been happier to shoot this engagement session...unless, we could have had a little more time at the Getty Center in Los Angeles!  What a beautiful place!  We were surrounded by beauty, but losing light fast.  Following these beautiful engagement photo pictures are some that I "blogstomped" from the wedding!

I photographed his big sister, Devaney, and now it's his turn!  Welcome, Miles!  You are a cutie!  It's so nice to work with Julisa and Jeff.  Julisa, is the daughter of very good friends of my parents.  I love how good people come into our lives!  See you all again soon!  Can't wait!
 

I was honored when my good friend, Steve, asked me to photograph his wedding in D.C. last April.  I couldn't have had a better time! My friend, Alice, and I made the trip together.   It was my first time in D.C. and I absolutely loved it!  It's so exciting to work in a new city and even better to work with such lovely friends.  Alice and I had a great weekend exploring D.C. and making some beautiful images for our good friends Steve and Will!  Congratulations to you both!

I was so excited to be referred to these new clients!  Violet and her parents were a delight to work with.  It's such a joy to be able to hold a newborn baby!  It's days like these that I feel so lucky to be a photographer!  Can't wait to see you grow, Violet!

Oh, Edith.  You make my day every time I photograph you.  It's hard to believe how much you've grown!  And, oh, what a personality!  Until next time, my dear!

A few years ago, when I was working with Kameron Bayne Images, I did a maternity session with a lovely couple, PJ and Jordan.  PJ has such an amazing sense of design and we had such a good time being creative together. Emily had a great attitude and let me drive her all over the Benson area of Omaha.  She was up for anything.  Oddly enough, some concerned citizen thought that I may be doing something wrong, because two nice police officers showed up at the car wash!  They said that someone had called about me "photographing minors!"  The police officers said that they figured it was nothing, and probably a "senior session" and kindly told us to enjoy our shoot.  It was a little nerve wracking at first, but at least it makes a great story!  Never a dull moment on a shoot with me!

This beautiful wedding took place at the Omaha Country Club.  It was the finale to a perfect September day.  The atmosphere had sort of a garden wedding feel with iced beverages served before the processional.  But, what happened afterward was what was new to me!  Elisabeth and John had a "Second Line," a tradition popular in New Orleans.  With a Mardi Gras brass band, the guests were paraded back to the club house.  It couldn't have been more fun!

So glad you found me Elisabeth and John!  I had a great time!

When I met Sara Jane, I knew she was a good match for Malcom.  They share a passion for art, travel and good books.  They are thoughtful, smart and genuine people who make a mark in this world.  They also make the greatest partnership I've ever seen.  I am so proud to call them my friends. 

I remember the day I met Malcom.  We were both in an Intro to Poetry class at The University of Nebraska--Lincoln, although this was no introduction to poetry for Malcom.  He often debated with the professor and helped lead thoughtful class discussions. Everyone around him was drawn to him.  I had just transferred to UNL from Northwest Missouri State for my second semester of my first year of college.  I was out of place, while everyone had already found theirs.  I knew no one in the class, but I, too, was drawn to Malcom and knew that I had to meet him.  It was in that class that I also met my good friend Carrie.  My world opened up to me that semester.  Malcom and Carrie introduced me to other friends like Mike, Tom, Steven, Suzie and Joy.  I was introduced to way more than poetry that semester.  These new friends opened me up to new music, bands, art, film and travel.  They lived life more fully than I had ever known.  They filled me up with long and late night discussions and were right there beside me as I developed into an artist, encouraging me every step of the way.  Malcom was even there to help me hang my first photography show.

It's funny.  At the time I made these, there wasn't even an option to scan the negatives!  They are kind of flat and gray, but they are fun to see!  

And that concludes my nostalgic trip down memory lane for today.  I hope my friends will all forgive me for this post.  It's been a lot of fun going through old photos and remembering where I started.  

I wish the best for you, my dear friends Malcom and Sara Jane!  May you live many long and adventurous days together!  Hopefully, these images will remind you of your beautiful wedding day for many years to come.  Love you!

I am so excited about this session!  I had the joy of photographing Ben and his beautiful family in Benson last year.  Little did I know I would be photographing him in his brand new studio around the corner at "Fruitful Design" just months later!  This team of two was so fun to work with and I think we got some really great stuff!  Stay tuned for the new logo that Ben is designing for me. I can't wait!  What a talented guy!  And he does way more than great design!  I had the privilege of hearing him play the piano and sing, too!  It was hard not to sing along with him while shooting way too many photos.  Look him up if you need a piano teacher or just some good entertainment! 

     First of all, I find it so rewarding to work with other photographers.  Shortly after starting out on my own with a few weddings for friends and family, I started a business with Andrey Mikityuk called Corrie and Andrey Photographers.  We did some awesome work together.  After our divorce, I didn't want to stop photographing weddings!  I knew I had to keep shooting, but loved doing it with other talented photographers, so Kameron Bayne invited me to come work with him.  I was excited to be part of a team again, but also loved to see how other photographers did things slightly differently than I did.  We had so much fun together making beautiful work and solving challenges together that I opened myself up to "second-shooting" with other photographers, too!  I have also enjoyed "second-shooting" with Dana Damewood, Brad Iwen and Stacie Kinney over the past couple of years.  I have been fortunate enough to hire some of my former photography students from Metropolitan Community College of Omaha to assist me on some weddings, as well.  Alex and Miranda Benge have been a joy to work with on a few weddings and portrait sessions.  I love working with other talented photographers because I can see their ideas, watch how they interact with clients and observe how they solve all of the challenges that we face during a wedding day.  I always learn something new and gain from the experience, as I hope they do, too!

     Shooting with Dana and her assistant, Jackie is always a ball!  We are a powerful trio!  Not only do we have lots of fun, we compliment each other so well with our shooting styles.  I can't wait to see all of the images together when Dana gets them processed!  Here is just a teaser with a few favorites that I came home with.

     Patrick and Andy were so great.  They were so fun and easy to work with, and their friends and family were all so nice!  With Andy's former work on "Extreme Makeover" as an architectural designer, he was able to use the talents of his friends from the show to help their vision come to life.  The design, details and decorations were absolutely beautiful.  Here are a few images to give you just a taste of what the amazing day was like.  Be sure to check back to Dana's Blog to watch for her post as well!  Enjoy!
